Chirnside is a small, rural village located in the county of Berwickshire on the east of the Scottish Borders. The school is situated on the A6105, almost equidistant from the coastal fishing port of Eyemouth, 8 miles to its east, and the main county town of Duns, 6 miles to its west. The school is non-denominational and accommodates pupils from Chirnside and its surrounding catchment area. It has an 'ante-pre' and 'pre-school' nursery as well as mainstream classes from Primary 1 to Primary 7. The school also houses the 'Berwickshire Support Base' facility, offering support for pupils with moderate learning difficulties on a 'shared placement' and 'outreach' basis and also for those pupils with severe and complex learning needs. At the end of Primary 7, pupils go on to secondary education at either Berwickshire High School in Duns, or to Eyemouth High School, depending on the catchment of the pupil's home address. |
