The "Parent Council" section of the website is managed by members of the school's Parent Council.
Welcome to Chirnside Primary School Parent Council Online!
Our Parent Council is made up of volunteer parent representatives from within the school. We meet twice a term with the Headteacher and a teacher representative, to discuss or clarify relevant issues within the school which may be of concern or interest to parents. We arrange fund raising events and encourage communication between the school, parents, pupils, pre-school groups and the wider community.
The Parent Council is made up from annually elected members (Chairperson, Secretary, Correspondence Secretary & Treasurer) and non-elected members. Non-elected members need to do nothing other than come along and listen and join in at will. All are welcome to the meetings and no experience or specialist knowledge is required to get involved, just your presence as a parent! Many hands make light work and the more parents get involved, the more ideas and help we have and the more we can benefit our children and their experience at school. We can make a real difference to the school!
The annual fund-raisers organised by the Parent Council over the last few years include "Dress Down Days", "Hallowe'en Discos", "Christmas Fairs", "Valentine Discos", "Spring Time Coffee Mornings", "Sports Day Refreshments Stall" and a "Shorts and Shades Summer Discos". Recently the Parent Council has helped to fund several projects within the school. We helped to purchase new blinds for classrooms and we contributed to the computer refresh, increasing the number of laptops acquired. We also contributed to the 'start up kit' for the "Commonwealth Tapestry" project. We are also planning on funding swimming classes for P5 children. So check the "Parent Council" section of the website, or our Facebook page, for the next meeting and come along. We are a friendly bunch and would love to have you join us.
